Well I never: Did you know that Peugeot made salt and pepper mills long before they made cars?
Some say these are the best mills you can get. Here’s what Peugeot say:
- Made of case-hardened steel for higher, more consistent output with fewer turns.
- Two-stage technology: Equipped with a helix-shaped double row of teeth that guide and hold the peppercorns for a perfect grind.
- Best performance on the market.
(Aren’t you relieved they have a “helix-shaped double row of teeth that guide and hold the peppercorns” I guess a bit like a Playtex bra?)
And about the salt grinding mechanism doo-dad:
DRY SALT MECHANISM
The Peugeot salt mechanism is designed to grind cooking salt (rock salt). It is made of a special stainless steel that resists corrosion. Its shape is specifically adapted to transform dry salt crystals to a fine powder. To get the best out of your Peugeot salt grinding mechanism, you should use salt with a size of 4mm max.
The 22cm mills’ adjusters are at the foot of the mill (rather than the knob at the top – that’s the little ones) adjust the coarseness of the grind….
We have two types of their amazing mills:
22cm – (natural pale wood finish for the salt, and a dark chocolate brown for the pepper).
