Blue & white plate

This lovely blue and white porcelain plate is one of three patterns based on traditional sailors' tattoos.  They are underglaze decorated and have a beautiful milky finish, reminiscent of the classic Canton china made in the 19th century for the American market. Manufactured in a very traditional Chinese porcelain factory.
