"If I break this glass, will you replace it?"
Sometimes someone will ask for something they don't know the name of. Which is really excellent and involves drawing (encouraged) on the wrapping paper or wildly signing/gesturing. No one really knows how to ask for the thing that stops food going down the kitchen plug hole. We call it a crud catcher. Of which we have many.
Please feel free to let us know about anything you've been looking for (as long as it's household related of course) or any names for common items that only your family use (eg crud catcher see above or here's one of ours: 'oin-oins'. These are the bobbles that form on knitwear and can be removed with one of these).
