Carabiners. By popular demand. Although some of you want them without knowing what they're called (aka crabs, biners, connectors, snap hooks and quick links).
The name comes from the German 'Karabinerhaken' which means 'carbine hook' - a spring loaded hook used for attaching soldiers' rifles (carbines) to a strap.
When I looked it up, the uses listed included 'rock climbing' and 'everyday tasks'.
Hmm. I'll go for the second one, thanks.
If you're going rock climbing, please go to a climbing shop for your carabiners. Theirs will be specially rated for that (holding people).
We also have another 'quick link' (no.2) for connecting two bits of chain (or similar) with a threaded doo-dad.
Nos. 4 & 5 are 'dog hooks' or 'trigger hooks'. No. 4 is a proper substantial dog lead-worthy sprung hook and the smaller one, no.5 is a lightweight nickel clip, perfect for keys etc.
They're all stainless steel except for no. 5 (see above).
