Le Chien Table knives (red handle)
Le Mordant knives (maroon handle, serrated).
When you buy "Le Mordant" (what a wonderful name BTW), you are buying 100 years of Thiers Issard tradition (the French knife maker since 1884). Perfect for prepping, it has a serrated blade and a "full tang" (where the blade runs all the way through the handle) which makes it super strong and reliable. It's unbelievably sharp (please be careful - let the tomato have it, not your fingers).
"Le Mordant" is their improved version, still with the legendary "Le Chien" engraving on the blade. It has a kind of weird but excellent ornate handle - made from...er, maroon plastic. And now the serrations on the blade are a 'half-moon' shape for an even more accurate cut.
Absolutely dishwasher safe by the way.
It'll be your best friend in your kitchen drawer, you mark my words.
We also have the equally excellent 'table' version - ie not serrated, but ruddy sharp all the same. They have a tomato red handle and they look great with plain forks and spoons.
Please enjoy the two excellent reviews below from Amanda B and Jane.
